How to wear a katana & wakizashi

There are different ways on how the katana and wakizashi are worn. This depends on the style of swordmanship that is practiced. The instructions beow give a proper way how they could be worn:

The wakizashi is slipped in under all the layers of the obi on the left side with the edge up. The tsuba should be in front of the navel.

The katana is also placed on the left side, but is slipped in below all the layers of the obi but one. The edge of the katana should be up. The saya kurikata (knob on the saya where the sageo is tied) should be just abve the obi.

The katana is held with the left hand. You hold the saya and place your thumb on the tsuba to hold it in place.
